Extravagant Weddings: Whats the Harm?

Hello Readers! After a long, tedious week Friday has finally arrived (thank goodness!) and its time for a new topic. Btw to all my college people, school opens next week (bummer right?) Its been 2019 for three weeks and although wedding season isn't until late Spring, weddings are already going on for some people and I thought I'd also get a headstart by writing at least one topic on weddings before I begin my #weddingseries during the summer.

When you get proposed to it can be one of the greatest feelings ever. The first thing you feel is happiness and bliss and you begin to think of starting a family... then boom! Your mind turns to preparations. From the perfect dress to the perfect venue to the invitation cards, your life turns almost upside down trying to keep your sanity while you make sure everything is perfect and on budget so you don't go bankrupt for your wedding.

A Ghanaian wedding for example on average according to stats costs 5000 to 6000 Ghana cedis which is approximately 1000 dollars. A wedding in the United States costs 33,000 dollars. Some couples however, tend to go overboard with expenses and end up running themselves and their finances into oblivion. I know, I know... I'm not here to bash anyone because of course if I had money to burn for my wedding, I'd burn it happily (weddings are once in a lifetime loves). This however is a case where people who DON'T have the money to spend go around trying to bend and twist and even snap their necks in order to impress every Tom, Dick and Harry by having the 'most beautiful' and 'wedding of the year'. (Which I just have to add, you DO know that someone will outdo you right?).

Now, the harm in all of this is not the unwanted and negative attention you'll get for the wedding (expect both positive and negative attention because thats inevitable), its the debt you'll be driving both you and your spouse into before you've even started a family. I mean imagine wanting this beautiful, stress free family, the whole she-bang (if you get me but ending up not getting it because you spent your account to oblivion just to play Prince Charales and Diana for a few hours (who by the way had a 110 million dollar wedding).

In order not to find yourself in such a situation, Take. My. Advice. Stick to a budget and what you can afford. Remember, a wedding is a union between two people who want to spend the rest of their lives together through thick and thin.

Thats it for this week and see you next week! and don't forget to leave comments down below!
