Hello dear people! I hope you all had an amazing week. If you're wondering how my week was, it certainly was not amazing. In fact, I am absolutely glad and relieved that the week has ended. Before you crucify me for not posting this Friday, I know *shy monkey*. I was so packed with an endless loop of exams and assignments that I though it would never end. Anyways, before I keep rambling and end up making you bored, lets cut to the chase shall we? Today I am going to share how I memorised my lessons without forgetting them.
Two years ago I started memorizing the Quran (after being urged by my older brother). At that point it wasn't really a choice but I just went along with it because well... I didn't really have a choice (he threatened to take my phone away lol). Anyways, I would read my parts well but there was a problem I always had: every time I moved on to a new Surah (chapter), I forgot the previous Surah. This made memorising very difficult for me. After a few learning and forgetting loops, I decided to find a solution to my problem.
I started looking up tips on how to make my lessons stick. The ones I found weren't really suited for me so I decided to use a method I used in studying for school to learn my lessons.
I would read a point for example five times while looking it then look away then recite that same point five times. I would then move on to the next point and then repeat the same process with the first point and then keep going until I memorised all the points. It worked and I stuck with that method.
I also read my lessons in my salat (prayer) which was really helpful because it made the lessons stick more and it made me less likely to forget them.
If anyone is learning the Quran or would like to, I really recommend this. Not only for memorising the Quran but if you're studying for a test or any other kind of thing, this method would really help (the first method. Don't go studying school stuff in your salat abeg). If you want to share any memorising tips and tricks, leave your comments in the comment section below. Thank you and happy new week!
I see. Interesting tips there. I think I’m going apply these tips.
