How to Be Prepared For Your Final

Hello! Thank goodness its finally the weekend. For those who celebrated Thanksgiving I'm hoping you had a wonderful holiday. For those who didn't, I hope you had fun doing whatever you did during the long weekend. Unfortunately, the long weekend we were all looking forward to has come to an end and it's time for everyone (those in college) to start preparing towards finals week. I know... *sigh* it's about to get messy. A lot of people during this time tend to be stuck still in the holiday zone and that can be a little dangerous considering the upcoming finals. But not to worry, this weeks blog post is about how to get prepared for finals. When I say prepared, I mean both mentally and physically.

1. Relax

Yes you heard me right. The first thing to do on the agenda is to relax. Clear your mind and don't (I repeat don't) stress yourself. The more you worry about those upcoming exams and papers, the more you're bound to feel pressure. The more you feel pressure, the more restless you're likely to become and that would reflect poorly on your finals (which we certainly don't want). I recommend finding something to do that makes you calm, be it taking a walk or watching a bit of tv. I for example love to take walks because they help me feel calmer after a long day at school. I sometimes watch ASMR on youtube (not explaining it, look it up and thank me later). My sister also likes to burn scented candles (for some reason) because it helps calm her down. My former school gave free massages to students during final week too so there are many ways of finding something that calms you.

2. Get Organised

One of the best tips for being prepared for anything (not just finals) is being organised. You can do this by listing assignments and extra credit (yes, do your extra credit even if you do well in class. It'll save you the stress of writing the awkward email of begging your professor to change your grade). Then do the assignments that has the closest due date. You can also do this with your final exams by checking the dates and studying for the ones due first.

3. Do not procrastinate

I swear I cannot stress this enough. Do. Not. Procrastinate. Don't do it to yourself. I know you'll feel tempted to accept that invite to go out with your friends but the sooner you sit down to do those term papers, the better. Also, try to keep distracting things (phones, etc.) away from you while you do your work.

4. Join a study group

I know, I know. This is the part where you say "But I'm such an introvert...". Ah well if you want that A, that means doing everything you can to get it. That also includes coming out of that shell boo. Seek out classmates that do well and speak up in class. Ask to study with them. It'll go a long way.

5. Study

Those A's won't come on their own so you've got to study. One tip for effective studying is finding a quiet place devoid of disturbances. Like I wrote above, keep all those gadgets away dearie.

6. Get Lots Of Rest

Last but not least, rest. Don't fry your brain trying to get that A. I didn't say oversleep yourself to oblivion. I said rest. Get a good amount of sleep so your brain is fresh and ready to learn when you wake up.

Anyways, these are the things that I normally do to prepare for an exam or final. I hope you find them useful. I would love to hear how you prepare for an exam or final in the comment section below.
